Opened in 2009, the Riverfront Art Gallery is located on the 4th floor of the Riverfront Library, the main branch of the Yonkers Public Library. The Riverfront Yonkers Public Library in downtown Yonkers has long been the cultural center for the arts in Yonkers. The gallery exhibits contemporary, nationally and internationally acclaimed artwork. The mission of the gallery is to present a diverse and balanced schedule of exhibits of high caliber, progressive artwork and related programs not frequently seen in Yonkers and surrounding communities. The exhibit schedule is managed by a committee that is appointed by the library director. Haifa Bint-Kadi is the curator for the gallery and head of this committee. The gallery is open to the public during library hours

US+U was founded on the understanding that the art world has rapidly changed from the traditional role of museums and galleries to self created venues and community based opportunities. US+U’s strength of purpose is to combine emerging and mid-career artists in a partnership to embrace a wide range of artistic approaches. This unique relationship creates a community of people who learn from each other through shared ideas and common goals.
